Indian Mound

Indian Mound Park

Indian Mound Parkprovides a rare opportunity for those who want to learn more about Florida's history. The Indians, who lived here long before the Europeans arrived, are responsible for the contoured landscape. They occupied this spot on Lemon Bay because it perfectly suited their needs. Seafood was readily available, and the land was perfect for their settlement.

The Indians are long gone, but their bones, skulls, and artifacts are still hidden in the dirt.

Today it is a beautiful little park directly on Lemon Bay, providing a historic nature trail, restrooms, and a picnic pavilion.

not to busy and a great place to launch your boat, very nice docks and plenty of benches with some benches, not a good beach for swimming, but great place to walk the dog or sit and watch the sunset over Lemon Bay

Another beauty is the 210-acre nature-based Lemon Bay Park, located on the Lemon Bay Aquatic Preserve, which is called Lemon Bay Park. This name is a simple name for a great park. The park consists of pine and scrubby flatwood with a thick black mangrove forest along the shoreline of the bay. Nature trails go all the way to Lemon Bay.

Picnic shelters, picnic tables, and restrooms are part of the facilities. Educational classes, guided nature walks, and other nature-based programs are offered year round. There is also a butterfly garden which attracts beautiful butterflies during certain times of the year.

The trails are partly paved with a boardwalk by the bay. Bring your kayak/canoe, because there is a boat launch waiting for you.

Gopher tortoises and other animals may also cross your path, but the Eagles are something spectacular. In the reception center, you will find eco-movies, hands-on eco-displays, and educational lectures. Guided tours are also provided.
