Cape Haze
About 8 miles further south from Englewood is the Cape Haze Community. The community is sitting at the southern end of a peninsular, sticking out into the big body of water, Charlotte harbor. First comes the "Lemon Bay Florida Watershed" on the right side, and after that, the Cape Haze community. The communities closer to Englewood are noticeably older communities, but the closer you get to Placida, you will see that more new or newer developments are popping up. Many are condominium communities; some are single-family communities with lovely homes on the water, golf courses, or nature preserves.
Gasparilla Marina, Placida Cove, and the Anglers Club are at the southern tip of the Cape Haze Peninsular. Further south is the Cape Haze Aquatic preserve. This aquatic preserve is a maze of islands and shallow passages, where Catfish and Whidden creeks meet Charlotte Harbor to mix with water from the Gulf of Mexico. A complex network of mangrove forests and sea grass meadows provides rich habitats for all kinds of wildlife. If you are a proud owner of a kayak or canoe, this is where you want to spend some time.
